For this post, I was challenged to do my first ever self portrait series, along with black and white photography, which I don't do very much of. I think I was held back by my own discomfort documenting my face, but once i got started it was pretty easy. This week, I also ran into some trouble where I felt like i wasn't coming up with any new ideas or motivation to go out and shoot. I think what helped me was just pushing myself out of my apartment door, saying I was just "going on a walk" and "coincidentally" bringing my camera. I was shocked that I actually took photos I liked, not ones that I forced myself to take.
The making of the portraits was relatively easy: remote viewing/shooting on the Canon app, the backdrop is my window curtain, a lamp, and a fake flower. I'm still working on how to describe the narrative, but I know it has something to do with the fragility of life (hence a delicate flower like an orchid).
